<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">An&#x20;alternative&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;conventional&#x20;Fourier&#x20;diffraction&#x20;tomography,&#x20;the&#x20;diffraction&#x20;slice-projection&#x20;algorithm&#x20;is&#x20;developed.&#x20;The&#x20;results&#x20;of&#x20;computer&#x20;simulations&#x20;illustrate&#x20;the&#x20;validity&#x20;and&#x20;usefulness&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;presented&#x20;algorithm&#x20;based&#x20;upon&#x20;a&#x20;projection&#x20;function&#x20;under&#x20;the&#x20;Born&#x20;approximation.&#x20;A&#x20;possibility&#x20;of&#x20;image&#x20;enhancements&#x20;by&#x20;modifying&#x20;the&#x20;projection&#x20;function&#x20;for&#x20;strong&#x20;inhomogeneities&#x20;is&#x20;also&#x20;discussed.</dcvalue>
