<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">A&#x20;model&#x20;for&#x20;propagation&#x20;of&#x20;laser&#x20;breakdown&#x20;and&#x20;detonation&#x20;waves&#x20;in&#x20;droplets&#x20;is&#x20;described&#x20;in&#x20;detail.&#x20;&#x20;The&#x20;model&#x20;explicitly&#x20;accounts&#x20;for&#x20;the&#x20;evolution&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;plasma&#x20;and&#x20;its&#x20;coupling&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;laser&#x20;radiation.&#x20;&#x20;Results&#x20;obtained&#x20;with&#x20;the&#x20;model&#x20;are&#x20;compared&#x20;with&#x20;experiment&#x20;for&#x20;laser-induced&#x20;breakdown&#x20;of&#x20;water&#x20;droplets.&#x20;&#x20;Model&#x20;predictions&#x20;are&#x20;found&#x20;to&#x20;agree&#x20;well&#x20;with&#x20;experimental&#x20;observations.&#x20;&#x20;Calculations&#x20;show&#x20;that&#x20;laser-pulse&#x20;modulation&#x20;results&#x20;in&#x20;more&#x20;efficient&#x20;coupling&#x20;of&#x20;laser&#x20;radiation&#x20;to&#x20;droplet.</dcvalue>
