<dcvalue element="description" qualifier="abstract">Drivers&#x20;driving&#x20;combat&#x20;vehicles&#x20;or&#x20;commercial&#x20;vehicles&#x20;such&#x20;as&#x20;tanks&#x20;or&#x20;trucks&#x20;have&#x20;a&#x20;limitation&#x20;to&#x20;recognize&#x20;the&#x20;surrounding&#x20;situation&#x20;due&#x20;to&#x20;the&#x20;structural&#x20;characteristics&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;vehicles.&#x20;In&#x20;this&#x20;paper,&#x20;the&#x20;authors&#x20;propose&#x20;the&#x20;head-mounted&#x20;display&#x20;based&#x20;omnidirectional&#x20;situational&#x20;awareness&#x20;system.&#x20;Six&#x20;cameras&#x20;installed&#x20;outside&#x20;of&#x20;the&#x20;vehicle&#x20;collect&#x20;images&#x20;and&#x20;generate&#x20;seam-less&#x20;panoramic&#x20;image&#x20;in&#x20;online.&#x20;The&#x20;viewpoint&#x20;is&#x20;cropped&#x20;from&#x20;the&#x20;panoramic&#x20;image&#x20;based&#x20;on&#x20;users’&#x20;head&#x20;motion&#x20;and&#x20;visualized&#x20;through&#x20;HMD.&#x20;The&#x20;proposed&#x20;system&#x20;is&#x20;evaluated&#x20;by&#x20;survey&#x20;type&#x20;experiment&#x20;with&#x20;a&#x20;captured&#x20;scene&#x20;from&#x20;an&#x20;outdoor&#x20;environment.&#x20;The&#x20;experimental&#x20;results&#x20;show&#x20;that&#x20;the&#x20;proposed&#x20;omnidirectional&#x20;situational&#x20;awareness&#x20;system&#x20;can&#x20;reveal&#x20;the&#x20;surrounding&#x20;information&#x20;without&#x20;significant&#x20;discomfort.</dcvalue>
