- Abstract
- In this article, we propose a bidirectional peripheral nerve interface capable of long-term implantation for peripheral nerve motor signal acquisition and sensory signal feedback. We designed and manufactured a new concept of SPAE (Spiral Probe Array Electrode) electrode that can overcome the conflicting limitations of invasiveness and selectivity, and a high porosity sieve-type electrode that can induce natural nerve regeneration through maximizing porosity. Sieve-type electrodes and SPAE feasibilities were verified for neural signal acquisition. Based on this, we confirmed the possibility of using the high porosity sieve-type electrode and the new concept SPAE as peripheral nerve interfaces.
