- Abstract
- Cobalt is one of favorable active metals in chemical reaction. For example, it has used as active metal for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) which can convert syngas to hydrocarbons. Co/gamma-Al2O3 is a typical catalyst for chemical reactions such as FTS due to the thermal durability of alumina. And cobalt exists as diverse species on Al2O3. The cobalt species interacting with Al2O3 are important since these species affect to catalytic activity. Unfortunately, the phenomenon of formation of these species has been studied despite the importance of understanding their formation. In this work, effects of reduction conditions were characterized to confirm the state of cobalt species on gamma-Al2O3 supports by diverse analysis techniques such as TPR and XRD. The reduction temperature, temperature ramp and GHSV of H-2 affected to formation of nonreducible Co-surface species on Al2O3. And it will suggest understandable data of the cobalt species on Al2O3 support by varying reduction conditions to help to achieve higher catalytic activity in chemical reactions such as FTS.
