- Abstract
- A La0.8Sr0.2NiO3 perovsldte-type catalyst was investigated to develop a stable catalyst for methane steam-CO2 reforming (SCR) in a gas to liquid-floating production storage and offloading process. The perovskite-type catalyst, supported on alpha-Al2O3, was prepared by a polyol method. The effect of the concentration of polyvinyl-pyrrolidone (PVP) on its reducibility, structural properties, and prevention of carbon deposition was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), H-2-temperature programmed reduction (H-2-TPR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). We also conducted methane SCR using the catalysts. At 1 M PVP, the perovskite structure was established completely without impurities; thus, it demonstrated the highest catalytic activity, 73.3% and 46.9% for CH4 and CO2 conversions, respectively. After the reaction, the weight fraction of carbon deposition on the perovskite catalyst was 0.3-0.4% and 1.9% on the Ni catalyst, which indicates that the perovskite-type catalyst superiorly suppresses carbon deposition during methane SCR.
