Abstract
Hydrophobic magnetite nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution were prepared by thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)(5) in octyl ether solution of oleic acid and by consecutive aeration. The nanoparticles were converted into magnetite core/silica shell (magnetite@silica) structured particles with hydrophilic and processible aminopropyl groups on their surfaces.
