Abstract
Experiments were conducted on an aluminum alloy having different initial textures to investigate the effect of initial texture on the texture evolution during dissimilar channel angular pressing (DCAP). Both finite element analyses and full constraint Taylor analyses based on the rate sensitive formulation were performed to analyze the deformation history and corresponding texture evolution during DCAP. Rotation behaviors of individual orientations due to DCAP were studied both to predict the stable orientations under DCAP and to provide a detailed explanation for the experimental results. It was observed that texture evolutions in the specimens processed by DCAP are strongly dependent on both the deformation history and the initial texture. (C) 2004 Acta Materialia Inc.
