We propose a new modeling technique for long-period fiber gratings. The proposed model which has a multipoint lattice filter configuration is useful in analyzing (or synthesizing) piecewise-uniform long-period fiber gratings when the spectrum band of interest is wide or when each uniform section is in a different coupled mode. The validity of the proposed model is confirmed by comparing the calculated spectrum curves with the measured ones.-
