Abstract
echnology. Among the minimal invasive surgeries, the laparoscopic surgery has provided many advantages such as reducing the recovery time and minimizing the scars rather than the scars (them) of traditional surgery. Generally speaking, the instrument for the laparoscopic surgery is mounted to the long rod type so that it requires a lot of medical training to handle it accurately. Therefore various laparoscopic surgery simulation systems have been developed for the effective medical training. However, these various laparoscopic surgery simulation systems are expensive and have the complex structures. To overcome the problem, this paper proposes an algorithm for 3D positional and rotational tracking of the laparoscopic instrument used computer vision technology.
