Abstract
As carbon-neutral technologies are being developed around the world, hydrogen is being considered eco-friendly fuel. Hydrogen is mainly produced by the Steam Reforming (SR) of methane. The steam CO2 reforming reaction (SCR) process is a technology for producing hydrogen-rich syngas from raw materials such as CO2-rich gas. Ni-based catalysts are widely used in SCR processes, but carbon deposition is a problem. For that reason, we aimed to develop mixed MgO-SiC support, providing catalytic activity and thermal conductivity under SCR reaction. In this study, MgO and SiC supports were prepared by the sol-gel and precipitation methods, respectively. Ni/SiC-Al Oxide and Ni/MgO-SiC-Al Oxide catalysts were manufactured by the incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by N2 physisorption, H2-TPR, XRD, and TGA. The catalytic performance was evaluated in the fixed bed reactor under 750 ~ 850 ℃, and 1bar. It was found that the prepared catalysts were under the characterization of different catalytic performances. Ni/MgO-SiC-Al Oxide has shown enhanced conversion of CH4 than Ni/SiC-Al Oxide.
