Abstract
The decomposition study of gas -phase 1,2-dichlorobenzene (o-DCB) by using plasma catalytic process was performed. The effect of support materials on the removal efficiency of o-DCB was examined to choose the best support material for catalyst. Experimental results showed that TiO2 played an important role in enhancing the removal efficiency of o-DCB remarkably. So, various kinds of metal oxide catalysts supported by TiO2 were prepared and introduced to the plasma reaction zone. The used catalysts were 5wt% (MnO2, V 2O5, Fe2O3, CuO, NiO, Cr 2O3, Co3O4)/TiO2. 5wt% MnO2/TiO2 catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity to enhance the removal efficiency of o-DCB. The maximum removal efficiency was 91.7% and enhanced by 37% compared to non catalytic plasma process. The main plasma products were CO and CO2, but small amounts of byproducts were also identified by GC-mass analysis.
