One of the great challenges in the twenty-first century is unquestionably energy storage. In response to the needs of modern society and emerging ecological concerns, it is now essential that new, low-cost and environmentally friendly energy conversion and storage systems are found; hence the rapid development of research in this field. The performance of these devices depends intimately on the properties of their materials. Innovative materials chemistry lies at the heart of the advances that have already been made in energy conversion and storage by introducing the rechargeable lithium battery. Nanostructured materials have attracted great interest in recent years because of the unusual mechanical, electrical and optical properties. Here we address this topic. It is important to appreciate the advantages of nanomaterials for energy conversion and storage, as well as how to control their synthesis and properties. This review includes the detailed history, construction and working of the Lithium thin film battery also detailed study of anodes, cathodes, electrolytes used till today in thin film lithium battery and the future challenges of thin film battery.-
