- Abstract
- Reactive extrusions have been carried out on blends of Nylon 6 and a liquid crystalline copolyesteramide (LCP) including a functionalized elastomer. Thermal behavior of the blends suggests partial miscibility of the components, which was endowed by the produced graft copolymer. A finer dispsersion is observed for the compatibilized blends. Some fibrils were also observed even when no extensional force was applied which shows the importance of interfacial adhesion for the dispersed phase deformation. Mechanical properties of the compatibilized blends were not improved compared to binary blends due to the thermal degradation of the nylon6 and elastomer phase during the processing.
