Enhanced Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Nitrogen Doped Carbon Nanotube Fibers Using Pyrolyzed Amino Acid

- Abstract
- In this study, we report a simple and efficient post treatment method for improving the performance of carbon nanotube fibers (CNTF). Nitrogen doping in CNTF using pyrolyzed amino acid induced interfacial hydrogen bonding between individual CNTs, enhancing tensile modulus (55.7 N/tex) and electrical conductivity (1100 S/cm) simultaneously. In particular, nitrogen doping in CNT with pyrolyzed amino acid predominantly provided the quaternary-N configurations in the carbon lattice.
