Abstract
In this paper, we propose a robot-assisted management system capable of monitoring daily activities of students and promptly coping with abnormal events in the classroom environment. To this end, perceptual sensor network including multiple Kinects and pan-tilt-zoom cameras provides the means to detect the occurrence of abnormal situations with the 3W-who, where, and what-information via audio- visual perception modules. Web technologies make an alarm message through a remote device to let someone know that an emergency event occurs and allow connection between the local robot and remote user in order to relay the local stream to the information consumer. Along with the alert transmission, the robot moves to the incident took place and performs an immediate correspondence for the happening by using robot navigation and interaction technologies. In the experiment, we examined robot performance on recognition of abnormal activities and the navigation and robotic behaviors.
