Abstract
X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) and magnetic measurements have been used to study the structure-induced modification in the properties and crystallization behaviour of Co80Zr10V10 alloy. DSC studies reveal a single step crystallization with activation energy of 3.84 +/- 0.05 eV. The best magnetic properties were obtained after annealing the studied alloy at 425 degrees C for 1 hour with following values: coercivity = 5.0 A/m, saturation induction = 0.7 Tesla and watt loss 0.4 watt/kg (at 50 Hz and at 0.7 Tesla). The average grain diameter D of the precipitated nanograins was found to vary between 10.0 - 13.5 nm with moderate dependency on the annealing temperature and time, for a volume fraction ranging between 30.5 - 42.0 %. XRD measurements reveal the presence of ZrCo2.9, Co23Zr6, Co2Zr and ZrV2O7 phase.
