Abstract
Equal-channel angular rolling was attempted to refine grain size of a low carbon steel cooling from a lower 7 region. Distinct refinement of ferrite gains as well as disappearance of ferrite-pearlite bands occurred by shear deformation. Nano-size particles of cementite were observed in ferrite grains as well as on grain boundaries, and strength increased appreciably.
