dc.description.abstractSome theoretical attempts have previously been made to analyze the cross effect between electronic and ionic charge carriers in ionic crystals by using the Debye-Hueckel & Onsager-Fuoss theory which had been applied to liquid electrolyte systems. Based on this liquid electrolyte theory, one can calculate the phenomenological transport coefficients of all charge carriers in ionic crystals as functions of their concentrations and mobilities. Furthermore one can estimate the theoretical values of ionic charge of transport which had been introduced as a measure of the cross effect between ionic and electronic charge flows. In this paper, we calculated the values of ionic charge of transport with a theoretical model based on Debye-Hueckel & Onsager-Fuoss theory and verified that model by comparing with our experimental results. The results of comparison supported that the cross effect is originated from the coulombic interaction among oppositely charged defects. The mechanism of the coulombic interaction is likely to be changed with respect to the thermodynamic conditions. T and Po-2. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.-
