Abstract
Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) is an efficient, non-flammable, and non-toxic refrigerants. HCFC-22(CHClF2) is known as an ozone-depleting substance. Therefore, the import and export of HCFC-22 between countries will be phased out based on Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment. Since HCFC-22 is used as a raw material for manufacturing TFE(Tetrafluoroethylene), it is essential to secure HCFC-22 thermal decomposition technology. PTFE is manufactured through the polymerization of TFE and is a critical plastic material used in hydrogen vehicles, electric vehicles, and the petrochemical industry. In this study, the pyrolysis reaction of HCFC-22 was performed under 650 ~ 850 oC and 1 bar in a fixed bed reaction system. The characterization of catalytic and non-catalyst pyrolysis of HCFC-22 was compared under the dilution conditions of steam or nitrogen. Furthermore, process simulation was also performed.
