Abstract
Generally, three-dimensional images provide viewers with an enhanced sense of reality, leading to increased needs for 3D devices and related services. However, but for considering human factors, technical and economic growths in 3D industry would be obstructed. Recently, more attention has been given to 3D human factors due to image safety issues raised by exposure to undesirable 3D content and environments. This article is concerned with briefly explaining the visual mechanisms for processing external 3D visual information and introduces related studies. The main factors adversely affecting human health and standardization activities for determining optimal viewing factors and establishing human-friendly 3D guidelines are introduced and discussed.
