Pulse electric current sintering of nanostructured Fe-Co alloy

Abstract
In this study, nanostructured Fe-Co powders were produced by mechanical alloying and were consolidated at 700, 800, 900 and 1000degreesC for 5 min by pulse electric current sintering. The grain sizes of these mechanical alloyed powders were about 10-15 nm. Density of the specimen sintered at 900degreesC was about 98%, and grain size of the specimens ranged from 80 to 200 nm. The spontaneous magnetization for the alloy powders and all sintered parts areal most the same at about 214 emu/g. The nanostructured Fe-Co part consolidated at 700degreesC for 5 min has a lowest coercivity (19 Oe), comparing with the parts consolidated at higher temperatures. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
