dc.description.abstractThe pylochlore-free undoped and 10 mol% Pr-3+,Pr-4+-doped Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3 ceramics were fabricated and their cationic ordering structures were investigated. By using X-ray/electron diffraction techniques. it has been experimentally verified that the Pr-3+,Pr-4+-doping enhances nonstoichimetric 1:1 ordering of Mg2+ and Nb5+ ions in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-3. These results are attributed to the increased Mg/Nb ratio which occurs when substituting higher valency ions for Pb2+. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.-
