Abstract
Ru doped TiO2 composite membranes were prepared by a sol-gel process. The Ru-doped TiO2 sol was peptized with hydrochloric acid and well dispersed in the solution. The average pore size of the support was about 0.125 mu m and the pore size distribution was narrow. The Ru-doped TiO2 composite membranes were obtained by dipping the support in a mixed sol. The thickness of the Ru-doped TiO2 composite membranes were in the range of 50-1000 nm. The mean particle size of the Ru-doped TiO2 composite membranes was smaller than that of the undoped TiO, composite membrane. It was observed that the Ru doped TiO2 composite membranes exhibited a crack-free microstructure and narrow particle size distribution even after calcination up to 800 degrees C.
