- Abstract
- The catalytic activity of chars prepared from lignite by fluidized-bed pyrolysis was studied in a fixed-bed integral reactor for the reduction of nitric oxide with ammonia at 150-degrees-C. The effects of pyrolysis condition on NO conversion were investigated by varying the pyrolysis temperature and composition of the fluidizing gas. The highest catalytic activity was obtained from pyrolysis at 600-degrees-C with a flow of nitrogen containing 3.2 vol.% oxygen. The effects of pyrolysis condition on the catalytic activity of the chars could be explained in terms of surface area and the amount of oxygen functional groups.
