Abstract
The influence of the texture in hot-band, cold-rolled strip on the annealing texture and the magnetic induction has been investigated in thin-gauged 3 % silicon-iron steel. Under moderate final cold-rolling condition, the thin-gauged strips showed magnetic inductions higher than 1.9 T after final annealing at 1200 degrees C for 14.4 ks. A heavily deformed strip showed a magnetic induction less than 1.69 T. Through ODF analysis, it was found that the nucleation and the development of Goss texture is not largely related to the {110}[001] grains near the surface of the hot-band, cold-rolled strip, but to the final cold-rolling reduction ratio.
